SoyOry soy sauce now under one roof!
For those of you keeping score, SoyOry has been existing as two distinct entities. First, I leverage a commercial kitchen located at The Belfry for prep, steaming and processing my soy sauces. Second, I've been lucky to have called the Sisters Makers building home for all my packaging, storage and shipping operations. The Oregon Department of Agriculture requires separate licensing for each of these facilities, so I'm an official Food Processor for the first location and a Food Warehouser for the second. Twice as nice, right?
Due to an unforeseen change in circumstances, the Sisters Makers building is evolving into something a little less Maker-oriented and will be more community focused going forward.
As luck would have it (and I am lucky), a space opened up in The Belfry at just the right time. This is a historical church building lovingly converted into a concert hall and event space and is a vital part of the Sisters landscape. In addition to this and the kitchen that brings SoyOry to life, it also houses the Pine Siskin School.
Being the preeminent concert spot in Sisters, Oregon for over a decade, the walls host the show posters of an incredible mix of artists from all over the musical landscape. My space is accessed by walking through the green room, which is ground zero for poster browsing. Not wanting to sully the vibe, and in honor of this fabulous venue and new home, the oh-so talented Wrenna Rose created the SoyOry concert poster/door sign that marks my new home. If you happen to be in the Belfry green room one day, come by and say hi. Maybe there will be a special Belfry soy sauce waiting for you.
So, I traded two roofs and two licenses for a place where my soul and my soy sauce can literally absorb good vibrations. Did I mention that I'm lucky?
Keep it saucy,
Scott
